Little Elm ISD has once again been named one of the nation’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, marking the district’s fifth consecutive year receiving this prestigious honor.

Announced on April 22, 2026, the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award recognizes school districts across the United States for their outstanding commitment to ensuring all students have access to high-quality music education as part of a well-rounded academic experience. Now in its 27th year, the award highlights programs that demonstrate excellence in participation, instruction, facilities, and community support.

Little Elm ISD is among more than 1,000 school districts and campuses nationwide selected for this recognition. Recipients are chosen through a rigorous application process that evaluates key indicators such as district support for the arts, instructional time, student involvement, and access to music programs. To ensure credibility, all submissions are independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a national research firm specializing in arts and education.

Earning this distinction for five consecutive years underscores Little Elm ISD’s sustained commitment to providing meaningful and equitable music education opportunities for every student. From elementary classrooms to award-winning secondary performance programs, the district continues to foster creativity, collaboration, and student growth through the arts.

“Music education plays a vital role in cultivating vibrant, connected communities,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM President and CEO. “The 2026 Best Communities for Music Education recipients exemplify how meaningful access to music fosters creativity, collaboration and lifelong learning.”

Julia Rubio, Executive Director of the NAMM Foundation, emphasized the broader impact of music education. “Access to music education is a true catalyst for belonging, expression, and shared purpose,” she said. “When communities invest in music, they invest in the potential of every student.”

The 2026 honorees represent a diverse group of communities across the country, including both first-time recipients and districts like Little Elm ISD that have achieved multiple consecutive years of recognition. These sustained accomplishments reflect the collective dedication of educators, administrators, families, and community members who champion the importance of music education.

This continued recognition highlights Little Elm ISD’s strong fine arts programs and the district’s ongoing investment in creating opportunities for students to explore and excel in music.
